First thought it is cold in Dallas again, wohooo. Right now my weatherbug (a great little application) is telling me that it is 25 degrees. Something that I learned today based on that, hospitals do not do inclement weather policies, they just break out cots for the staff or send security to give you a ride into work. Every where I called to set up discharge plans was closing due to the nasty weather, because no one in Dallas knows how to drive on ice and sleet. It is nice it feels good like things are right with the world, tomorrow is December and we have snow. I have never liked the heat in August I know it is Texas and I can move if I want to. The best part was this afternoon at work, all of the kids ran to the windows and watched the snow coming down. They were excited, happy and felt special in a way that is hard to convey, I wish we could have taken them outside to play. :)
So Christmas is coming up, and I always have a hard time at Christmas and present buying, what do people want? My parents are the hardest to shop for. My friends I can usually figure out with out to much effort. My parents never seem to need anything or anything that I could afford. Ah well I am sure that I can figure something out if I start working on it now. Crazy ideas welcome.
Ok so my time to claim idiocy. There was this really cute nursing student at work doing her student rotation on the children's unit. We flirted a bunch, she seemed interested and like a putz I waited and waited and hemmed and hawed, and then when I felt ready to ask her out she was not at work, she isn't coming back her rotation is over. Yeah. So that is just my luck, to finally work up the nerve and then let other things fall through. A friend I work with it, but most bluntly what was the worst that could happen, she could say no. Exactly. What would I have lost if she had said no, nothing. So the goal for the next time I am interested in someone is to just jump out there and say something, again the worst is a no.

Just remember... the worst is not a "no," the worst is a restraining order.... ;)
I'm sorry to hear about the one that got away... but as long as there are sick people, there will be nurses, and as long as there are nurses, there will be nursing students!
