Soundtracks

Hello folks

I guess I should start writing in this again a bit. Getting my thoughts and frustrations out in some form seems like a better idea then just writhing about counseling. I think my counseling stuff would have a seriously limited audience. So something I have been creating and developing at work has lead to thoughts about another topic that may be fun to write about or at least to think about.

I have been creating a music therapy group at the hospital for the adolescents. Think about it, MUSIC and how much of an impact that it has upon us. I could reference meaningless research articles, and some such. The ideas behind the group is to listen to a CD with a compilation of songs, evoking a variety of emotions and then taking about those feelings, and how we can manipulate our environment to change how we feel. As an experiment, try thinking about your favorite song and how you feel when you listen to it. I love singing "Hey Jude" in the car at the top of my voice as I am driving all over town. That makes me feel really good when I am done. So I have been developing this CD, which means I have been listening to tons of music.

Ok so my thoughts are, if you could have a personal sound track to the movie of your life what would the music be. What genre, what would represent your triumphs, your downfalls and losses, your good times and silly moments? How do you come up what matches to you. So far, looking over the stuff that has been played the most on my computer in descending order.

1. Hate Me - Blue October - I like the imagery it provokes
2. Please, Please, Please, Let me get what I want - It is the song from the Art museum scene in Ferris Bueller's Day Off :P
3. Mad World - From Donnie Darko soundtrack
4. Yesterday - Beatles
5. Like a Rock - Simon and Garfunkle

Ok so those would be in my soundtrack somewhere. Anyone want to share what they would have in their soundtrack?

"Forget About It" - Alison Krauss. I like how the fast pace acts as a sort of impetus to get past things.
"Precious Things" - Tori Amos. I don't listen to it much anymore but this is a very powerful song when you're a teenage girl and have a lot to scream about (and a CD player in your car).
"When You Come Back Down" - Nickel Creek. Just great, great writing and wonderful music.
"I Feel Free" - Cream. One of those sunny-day road-trip songs that I love.
"Little Wing" - Stevie Ray Vaughan. Good song to get lost in.

I'm glad you're writing again, yay!
